Aman has been in Tokyo since 2014 and in New York since 2022. On Wednesday it named its third Asian city address, and the choice was Cheongdam.
The announcement came on Wednesday 2 September. Aman Seoul will rise on a site in Cheongdam-dong, the Gangnam district where the flagship stores already cluster, on a plot overlooking the Han River. Shinsegae Property, the development arm of the Shinsegae retail group, is building it. Aman will handle architecture, design and operations under a long-term management agreement.
The numbers come from Shinsegae. Roughly 70,000 square metres of floor area. Eight levels below ground, 38 above. Inside that envelope sit a hotel, 49 private residences, a members' club, spa floors, restaurants and a run of retail and cultural space at the base. A building permit was granted in December 2025; Korean reports put completion around 2029, and Aman has not yet named an opening date.

Every home faces the river
The tower wears a full curtain wall of floor-to-ceiling glass, and Aman says every residence looks onto the Han without exception. That is the whole pitch for the apartments. The 49 homes are being furnished by Aman Interiors, the group's own furniture and objects studio, working with Korean craftspeople and drawing on Korean spatial traditions. Low seating, pale timber, a river in the window.
Hotel, residences and club each get their own entrance and arrival sequence, so a resident never crosses a hotel lobby and a member never shares a lift with a checked-in guest. Aman has run this separation in Tokyo and New York. In Seoul it is designed in from the ground.
Cheongdam already had the boutiques. What it lacked was somewhere to sleep that matched them.
The Splendid EditThe club
Aman Club is the third piece, and the one that ties Seoul into the group's wider plan. The club here will have its own pool, a fitness floor and lounges, open to residence owners and to members of the global Aman Club, which means a member from Miami or Dubai can use Seoul as a base. The spa and wellness facilities span several floors of the tower, and the dining programme will include Aman's in-house restaurant concepts alongside outside names still to be announced.
The partnership goes beyond one building. Shinsegae Group chairman Chung Yong-jin and Aman Group chairman Vlad Doronin agreed in July to form a joint venture between Shinsegae and Doronin's OKO Group for hospitality development in Korea. Aman Seoul is the first project to come out of that arrangement. Doronin said Seoul's pull across culture, design, technology and wellness had made it a natural base for the brand; Chung called it a new landmark for the city's high-end market.
The city list
Aman began in 1988 with a beach resort in Phuket, and for most of its life it avoided cities. Tokyo changed that, then New York on Fifth Avenue, then Nai Lert Bangkok. Seoul now joins a pipeline that includes Beverly Hills and Miami Beach in 2028, Dubai and Singapore, the last of those a tower in the Skywaters development. Each pairs a hotel with residences and a club. Seoul is the first in Korea and, for anyone who follows the fashion calendar, the first Aman in a city where the week at Dongdaemun Design Plaza has become a fixture.
The residences page went live on aman.com the same morning as the announcement, with an enquiry form and a single rendering of a living room. The hotel has no page yet. In Cheongdam, that is roughly the order things happen in.
