The World Cup trophy will reach the final inside a Louis Vuitton trunk. It was built by hand at Asnieres, the way the house has built trunks since the 1850s.
The protocol is fixed by now. Before the final, a trunk is carried onto the pitch. A house ambassador walks it out beside a FIFA Legend. The lid opens and the trophy comes into the light.
Louis Vuitton has been named Official Supplier and Branded Licensee of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The trunk it made will take part in the closing ceremony and stand at the centre of the presentation. The house has done this at every men's World Cup since 2010.
Asnieres
The trunk was made in the Asnieres-sur-Seine workshops, on the northwest edge of Paris, where Louis Vuitton has cut special orders since 1859. It is covered in monogram canvas. Two front panels carry a hand-painted golden V, for victory and for Vuitton, set in the colours of the trophy itself.
Leather trim called lozine runs the edges. Gold-plated brass corners, a lock and clasps repeat patterns the house has used since the 1860s. Inside, light beige leather lines the case, and a joint Louis Vuitton and FIFA mark sits in the lid.
Asnieres is the family house and the atelier at once. The trunk makers there still work by hand, building poplar frames and laying canvas and lozine by the method the workshop kept a century ago. A case for a trophy follows the same steps as a case for a voyage.
A trophy is a small thing to move. The house treats the moving of it as a voyage.
The Splendid EditThe line
Since 2010 the cup has travelled this way. Louis Vuitton made trunks for South Africa in 2010, Brazil in 2014, Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022. The 2026 case is the fifth. The house files all of it under one line it keeps repeating, victory travels in Louis Vuitton.
The tournament plays across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The trunk stays French. It leaves a Paris suburb and arrives at the final, and the cup makes that journey in reverse once the match is done.
The collection
Louis Vuitton has released three trunks tied to the trophy case. A Coffret 8 Montres holds eight watches on removable cushions. A Cotteville 16 Montres holds sixteen on a lift-out tray. A Malle Courrier Lozine 110 is a full travelling trunk. Each wears monogram canvas, a hand-painted FIFA World Cup logo and the same golden V.
The final will end with a lift and a roar. Before that the trunk does the quiet part of the night. It carries the prize onto the grass and gives it up.
