The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode published the provisional calendar for spring 2027 this week. Nine days in Paris, a hundred and one houses, and a run of returns that changes the shape of the closing week of the season.
Womenswear opens on 28 September and runs through 6 October. Sixty-eight runway shows sit alongside thirty-three presentations. Julie Kegels takes the first slot on the opening afternoon. Louis Vuitton holds the last, at half past six on the final evening, the position it has kept through several seasons.
The numbers read as growth. A hundred and one houses is a full calendar, wider than the couture weeks that fill July and richer in first-time names than the schedule that closed last September. The list mixes the maisons that anchor every season with labels that have never held an official slot before.
The returns
Maison Margiela comes back to Paris on 29 September. Last season the house left the calendar for Shanghai, staging its collection in a former factory on the city's western edge. This season it re-enters the schedule in the opening days, back inside the official week.
Valentino returns as well. The house showed its autumn 2026 collection in Rome, away from the Paris calendar, in a run of appointments staged around the Spanish Steps and the Palazzo Mignanelli. For spring it rejoins the French capital and the shared schedule.
The returning names carry past the marquee two. Casablanca, Christopher Esber and Ester Manas all reappear on the runway list. On the presentation calendar, Leonard Paris, Didu and Xuly Bët rejoin the official roster, the last of them a founding voice of the label movement that reshaped Paris in the nineties.
A calendar is a claim about who belongs in the room. This one keeps the door wider than it has been.

The opening day belongs in part to Maxhosa Africa. Laduma Ngxokolo founded the label in Johannesburg in 2010 and built it around Xhosa beadwork translated into knitwear, the geometry of the beads rendered in colour-blocked wool. The house has shown presentations in Paris since February 2024. This season it takes its first runway slot on the official calendar, on 28 September, the day the week begins.
The move from presentation to runway matters in Paris. A presentation is a room and a rail. A show is a time, a seat, a set of eyes booked to be there. Maxhosa steps into that second format at the front of the week, ahead of the houses that usually own the opening hours.
The shape
Christian Dior, Chanel, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga hold their familiar places across the nine days, the fixed points the rest of the calendar arranges itself around. Around them the schedule fills with the smaller labels and the returning ones, presentations threaded between the shows. The provisional list will shift before September. Slots move, names drop, a few more arrive. The frame is set.

September is nine weeks out. The invitations have not gone out, the venues are not confirmed, the running order is a draft. What the calendar sets is the intent: who plans to show in Paris, and in what order the city will see them.
