Amanyara has been shut all summer. It opens again on 20 October, at the far western end of Providenciales, where one road goes in and nothing goes past.
The drive from Providenciales International takes twenty-five minutes. The last stretch is a single track through an 18,000-acre nature reserve, and it ends at the water. Half a mile of white sand, a line of low pavilions set back in the coastal scrub, and the turquoise shallows of Northwest Point Marine National Park.
Aman has closed the resort for a season of enhancements and put a firm date on the other side of it. Guests return on 20 October 2026. The house has not said much beyond that, which is normal for Aman and slightly maddening for anyone holding a booking.
Amanyara opened in 2006. Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston drew it, and the vocabulary is his: dark timber, pitched roofs, black infinity pools, buildings arranged around still water so that everything appears twice. The last round of work here finished at the end of 2023.
The rooms
Pavilions sit in the vegetation, some facing ponds, some facing the beach. Overhanging eaves shade terraces on three sides of each one, reached through floor-to-ceiling glass doors, and several open onto private pools. The Ocean Cove Pavilion is perched on the rocks.
Villas run from three to six bedrooms, arranged around a black infinity pool with a dedicated host attached to each. The Artist’s Villa is the one people ask for. There are also beach sala villas along the sand and tranquility villas set back among the trees.

Offshore
The reefs begin five minutes out by boat. The Turks and Caicos Barrier Reef is the third largest in the world and holds more than sixty species of coral and upwards of two hundred and fifty species of fish. Hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, reef sharks, parrotfish moving through the coral in schools. Barracuda and moray eels turn up often enough to keep divers honest.
Aman dives it with Big Blue Collective, one of the region’s longer-established operators, which works alongside the Turks and Caicos Reef Fund. Beginners start with a PADI Discover Scuba session in calm water. Everyone else eventually asks about The Wall, on the north shore, where the seabed simply stops and drops thousands of feet into the dark.

The Splendid EditHumpbacks pass West Caicos in winter. Dolphin pods show up between June and August. Kiteboarding conditions hold across Long Bay Beach from May to September, and there is a guided Kite Safari for people who already know what they are doing. Paddleboards, kayaks and Hobie Cats sit on the sand and cost nothing.

On land
The reserve gives the place room for things most Caribbean resorts cannot fit. Tennis courts, a full-size football pitch, a boxing studio and a Pilates studio. Amanyara Legends started in 2021, on the resort’s fifteenth anniversary, and brings athletes in to run clinics: Maria Sharapova, Leylah Fernandez, Frances Tiafoe, the Bryan brothers, Kevin Love, Blaise Matuidi. The Mobility and Recovery Programme carries Novak Djokovic’s name.
Frenchman’s Creek Nature Reserve is close enough for private eco-tours by kayak through the mangroves. Charters run out for marlin, tuna and wahoo. And guests staying long enough are given a fourth night and daily afternoon tea, which is Aman’s way of suggesting nobody comes here for three days.
Providenciales has been building fast for two decades. Amanyara sits at the end of the one road that leads away from all of it, and in October it starts taking guests again.
