Milan closes on a Monday this year. Paris opens the same morning, and the calendar leaves no day to cross between them.
The Spring/Summer 2027 season runs the usual four cities in the usual order. New York first, then London, then Milan, then Paris. What has changed is the spacing. The month has been pulled tight, and the gaps that once held a spare travel day have mostly closed.
The dates
New York shows from 10 to 15 September. London follows from the 17th to the 21st. Milan takes the 22nd through the 28th, and Paris runs from the 28th to 6 October. Four calendars, one continuous month.
The seams are where it tightens. New York ends on the 15th and London opens on the 17th, which leaves the 16th and little else. London closes on the 21st and Milan opens on the 22nd, back to back. Milan and Paris meet on the 28th, both live on the same day.
The handoff
That Monday is the pressure point. Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana lists Milan through the 28th. The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode opens Paris on the 28th. A last Milan show and a first Paris show can land hours apart, in two countries.
The people who make the month run feel this before the houses do. Buyers hold showroom appointments. Photographers file and caption. Stylists move samples and credentials across a border on a working day. Accreditation stays city by city, so a Milan pass buys nothing in Paris.
Large teams split the work, one crew closing Milan while another sets up Paris. Smaller agencies and titles choose. They decide which rooms need a body in them and which can run on a livestream, a local contributor, or footage pulled after the fact. The Paris calendar is still provisional, which keeps every plan loosely held.
Second collections
The clothes give the week its weight. Prada opens the Milan womenswear calendar on the 22nd, the first house to set a tone the others answer. Three days later Gucci shows Demna's second ready-to-wear collection for the house, after a debut that drew more comment than agreement.
Fendi brings Maria Grazia Chiuri's second season since her return. Marni shows Meryll Rogge's second. A run of designers is past the introduction now and into the harder part, the collection that has to build a language instead of announce one.
The business sits behind all of it. Kering reported Gucci down five percent across the first half, with the second quarter narrowing the fall to two. Prada Group posted organic growth and a retail line that gathered speed through the spring. The September shows will be read against those numbers as much as against each other.
New names
Milan also widens its door. Four labels join the official calendar this season, among them Marques'Almeida, the LVMH Prize winners back on the schedule. Moschino shows the first collection from Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, the pair who built Sunnei.
New York sets its own bookends. Henry Zankov opens the week with his debut for Diane von Furstenberg on the 10th. Thom Browne closes it on the 15th. The season starts with a house handed to a new pair of hands and ends with one of its most theatrical regulars.
The calendar has stopped pretending there is time between the cities.
The Splendid EditThe month
None of the dates are fully fixed. The CFDA calls its New York lineup preliminary, and Paris remains provisional until closer to the shows. Houses still move times, change formats, add a digital slot. The shape can shift under the season before it starts.
What holds is the compression. The four weeks now read as one long run with few seams, and the 28th sits at the tightest of them. Milan will be finishing as Paris begins, and the people carrying the month from one city to the next will feel the join.
